Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Brees: 80.67% 1814 Yards 24 TD's 1 INT's 153.8 Rating[/b]
-- At this point it's Brees award to lose as the current numbers are pretty disgusting. Less then a full point away from perfect, averaging nearly 300 yards a game, 4 TD's per game without a single turnover. The current record for QB rating in a season is held by Arizona legend Jack Enlgish at 145.33, a number that Brees may be looking to challenge. Obviously there's no way this perfect pace keeps up but anything close to it should probably ensure that Brees is the runaway MVP.
Key Performances:
@ St. Louis - Week 1: 19/24 294 Yards 3 TD's
@ St. Louis - Week 4: 18/20 252 Yards 5 TD's
@ New England - Week 5: 22/27 182 Yards 1 TD 1 INT
Cleveland Browns QB Chad Henne: 73.11% 1677 Yards 15 TD's 3 INT's 144.18 Rating[/b]
-- In any other season Chad Henne would be having arguably the best season for a QB and clearly the front runner for the MVP race. Despite being overshadowed by Brees, Henne is quietly putting together a fantastic season. 5:1 TD to INT ratio along with over 300 yards a game to put up a 144 QB rating is impressive. If Brees falls off a little bit Henne could vault himself into the discussion.
Key Performances:
@ Baltimore - Week 5: 20/29 326 Yards 2 TD's 1 INT
@ Philadelphia - Week 6
@ Washington - Week 8
Oakland Raiders HB Chris Johnson: 62 Carries 759 Yards 12.24 YPC 9 TD's
-- The biggest threat to the Brees MVP candidacy comes from Oakland and the super fast CJ2K. Johnson is coming off a 2000 yard season for the 2nd time in his career and he looks to be on pace to repeat that performance. CJ's biggest problem is that in the big games he was invisible and it cost the Raiders. Last year against the Vikings he was shut down and against the Colts he turned in his worst performance in his young career. He's already corrected the problem against the Colts but he's going to need to continue turning in good games against quality teams or else he'll be ignored once again in the MVP Race.
Key Performances:
@ Indianapolis - Week 3: 17 Carries 146 Yards 3 Touchdowns
@ Denver - Week 4: 17 Carries 149 Yards 1 Touchdown
@ New England - Week 12:
Indianapolis Colts QB Matthew Stafford: 68.82% 1389 Yards 14 TD's 2 INT's 142.14 QB Rating[/b]
-- Stafford would certainly get the strength of schedule vote as he's had to face playoff teams in the Raiders and Colts and come away with victories in both. Luckily this is T1ML and we don't do that BCS bullshit so Stafford doesn't get extra credit. A 7:2 TD ratio to go along with 300 plus yards is pretty good but Stafford will lose votes simply because of the Colts apparently don't play defense anymore, forcing Stafford to just air it out. With no one left on the slate to really challenge Indy, expect the numbers to calm down as the defense puts the game away much earlier.
Key Performances:
@ New England - Week 2: 23/39 481 Yards 5 TD's 1 INT
@ Oakland - Week 3: 17/23 373 Yards 3 TD's
