1) Indianapolis Colts 4-0
-- Oh look the Colts are on top of the AFC. In other breaking revelations water is wet, the sun is really fucking hot and Ryan Leaf was a bust. Call me when something interesting happens with this team. The only interesting things in the AFC South are why Eli Manning doesn't understand why interceptions are bad and why Texans All World WR Andre Johnson thinks he's Bob Sanders with all the injuries recently. Oh and fuck Troy Smith!
2) Cleveland Browns 5-0
-- Last year the Browns had the most successful/disappointing season in T1ML history. Despite finishing 14-2 the Browns were forced to drop to the #5 seed and face the Colts without starting QB Chad Henne. Suffice to say that it didn't go well and Cleveland again suffers from the Lake Eerie curse. This year the Browns have taken their frustration out on T1ML as they've dominated opposing offenses on route to the #5 scoring defense in the league. If they can continue to play good defense the Browns may finally be a legit challenger in the AFC.
3) New England Patriots 3-1
-- The Patriots were apart of the one of the true classics in T1ML history as last year's divisional round playoff game against Pittsburgh won't be forgotten. If not for a questionable clipping call the Pats would have been the team facing Indianapolis in the title game and now the Patriots are determined to right their perceived injustice. The addition of OLB Mario Moss will be huge for New England as they have a big Week 5 test as they face off against Arizona and QB Drew Brees who's playing out of his mind. If the defense can shut the Cardinals down the Patriots may have the defense to get to the Super Bowl.
4) Oakland Raiders 3-1
-- Oakland put up a great performance against the Colts but the lingering questions about their ability to consistently pass the ball have them coming in at 4th. The Raiders play in a soft division so they may sneak up into a higher spot but if they expect CJ2K to do it all by himself, it'll be another one and done year. If Jason Campbell really does come alive this year then the Raiders have the pieces around him to also be a threat but relying on Campbell is ALWAYS risky.
5) Baltimore Ravens 4-1
-- The Ravens started off hot and despite a loss to Cleveland are in great position to challenge not only for the AFC North crown but for a playoff spot as well. After two seasons of starting nobodies at QB the Ravens finally have their franchise QB in Andrew Parris and he's wasting no time in directing the Ravens offense effectively. Parris struggled against the Browns like any rookie is expected to against a top defense but as the season moves along he'll continue to get better, a scary thought for the rest of the AFC.
6) Houston Texans 3-1
-- This is really a guess this early in the season as Buffalo and Denver all have one less as well but Houston seems to be the most talented team of the final bunch. WR Andre Johnson, when healthy, is one the most dangerous WR's in the league and can torch even the best of defenses. The Texans will likely drop their Week 6 game but after that the Texans will get AJ back and could arguably knock off any team in the AFC. With the NFC North on the slate the Texans will make up some wins and likely take the final playoff spot to hopefully set up an interesting AFC Playoffs.
