49ers route rival Cardinals 40-14!
The San Francisco 49ers move to 9-2 after defeating the undfeated Cardinals who lead the NFC West with a record of 10-1. The Cards were widely criticized for taking out star QB Jack English after 1 and 1/2 quarters of play due to an unexplained injury. With the defensive performance the 49ers put on I think the Cards made the right choice.
Coach Majestics Press Release
Reporter: Coach with the victory today you move to 9-2, 1 game down from winning the NFC West and 2 games up to grab 2nd place and a possible wildcard spot how important was this victory?
Majestic: All games are important in this league, if we would have beaten the Dolphins and the Cardinals the 1st time we would be 1st place in the NFC West 2 games ahead, and undefeated instead we have to fight for a wildcard spot unless Arizona collapses in its next few game. The team went out and performed great, I couldn't have asked for a better performance.
Reporter: Do you feel like this is a playoff contender or will you guys be happy just to be in the post season? How far will the Niners go?
Majestic: I told you from the beginning we were contenders, I felt in the beginning that we would be superbowl champs and I feel the same way now, no matter how many times you ask me the answer will be the same.
Reporter: You say that the team performed great and they did, any players in particular that you would like to mention?
Majestic: Well this victory was a near complete game but I really feel like our defense stepped up in a big way, last time we played the Cards our offense did their job as much as you can against the reigning superbowl champs, but our defense gave up too many points. First we have OLB/DE Parys Haralson 7 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 safety. OLB/DE Trevor Scott 4 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble. NT Abrayo Frankline 4 tackles 3 sacks. FS Brock Williams 5 tackles 1 forced fumble. SS Rashad Henderson 1 tackle, 1 int, 1 forced fumble. CB Ike Taylor 1 tackle, 1 sack, 1 int. On offense you had QB Matthew Stafford 13/18, 266 yards, 4 TDs, 1 int. TE Vernon Davis with 4 receptions, 96 yards, 2 TDs.
Reporter: Next week you have the Buffalo Bills who are one of the leagues worst teams, how do you make sure the team doesn't get complacent and let this game slip through their hands?
Majestic: My team would never do that, they are way to disciplined and we do not overlook anybody. The Bills have a team that unfortunately doesn't have a lot of talent, but this owner is very good at what he does, he is strategic and can be competitive with any team, we look for a hard fought game but we still expect to come out the winners. Thats all the questions I have time for, see you guys next week.
